I'm in Buffalo NY and there is not a single radio station that plays
contemporary folk music. There is absolutely nothing - not even a syndicated
"Mountain Stage" or "Acoustic Cafe." Nothing! I stumbled upon WUMB several
months ago, and it has been a joy. Most days in the office I'm logged into
it.
A couple of weeks ago I had trouble logging on and discovered that I now had
to register register with WUMB in order to access their web site. Like Alan
sed ("sed" = past tense of "sez"), I had to provide them with some personal
information and select a user name an password. After doing that I was back
on like before.
I have no problem registering and letting them know who I am and where I am.
I'm sure it costs them money to put their signal out on the net, and I don't
think it's unreasonable for them to want to know who's using the service.
Maybe they'll send me an e-mail from time-to-time requesting a contribution -
and you know what? I'll probably send them one. This is a great service
they're providing to the radio starved in markets like Buffalo.
