There is still some space at the SongshopsCoop Retreat Nov 11th - 13th in 
Perdido Key,  FL. Don't miss the opportunity to learn songwriting from the 
pros in an intimate setting. Here's the schedule:

10 AM - 12:00 PM Registration
11 AM - 12:00 PM Brunch
12:00 PM - 12:30 PM Welcome Ralph Murphy: Sun, Surf, & Hit Songwriting in the 
Year 2000
12:30 PM - 2:30 PM Ralph Murphy, Marc Beeson & Craig Carothers in a Panel 
Discussion on Uptempo Songwriting: Lyrics  
    Nashville is saturated with ballads & most singers & publishers are 
looking for up-tempo songs. How can your lyric help lead you to an uptempo 
song? Bring tapes & CDs of uptempo songs with a printed lyric sheet for 
critiques during this talk (8-10 songs will be critiqued during this 
discussion).
2:30 PM - 4:00 PM Songwriting Assignment: Songwriting in the Round I. Start 
small group collaborations with coaching/mentoring by staff.
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM  Reconvene for snacks & to share progress on new songs & 
get some feedback. 

There are lots of great restaurants along the beach. We’ll go out as a group 
for dinner (pay your own way). There are performances at multiple venues from 
7 PM till 2 AM.  Several of our participants & all of the staff from the retre
at will be performing & we'll all want to catch as many of their performances 
as we can.

Sat Nov 11th
11:00 AM - 12 N  Brunch
12 N - 1:30 PM Panel Discussion/Question & Answers with Karen Taylor Good, 
Angela Kaset,  & Don Henry on Writing Uptempo Songs: Melody.
     This discussion will address both writing uptempo melodies, 
collaboration issues & critiques of 4-5 uptempo songs/collaborations.
1:30 PM - 4:00 PM Songwriting assignment in the Round II.  (Staff will go 
from group to group while people are writing & listen in & comment or coach.)
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Reconvene to share the new versions of the songs in 
progress & get feedback from the staff. 
5:00 PM -6:30 PM Barbeque (all staff are invited to join us with their 
significant others for the barbeque)
Performances at multiple venues from 7 PM till 2 AM.

Sunday Nov 12th
11:00 AM - 12 N Brunch
12:00 N - 1:30 PM Panel Discussion: Getting your songs published, making a 
living from music & the challenge of writing from a distance. Ralph Murphy, 
James Dean Hicks, & Craig Carothers (4 or 5 song critiques during this 
presentation with the focus on how these songs might be viewed by a publisher)
1:30 PM - 3:30 PM Songwriting in the Round III: Continue working on new songs 
in small groups with staff listening in & coaching
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM Reconvene to hear completed songs in progress & get 
feedback on them
4:30 PM Snacks & farewell

    If you are staying Sunday night & we'll go out for dinner & catch more 
performances.

    Everyone will get an opportunity to have a finished song critiqued as 
well as to get feedback on their works in progress over the weekend, so bring 
a tape or CD & printed copy of your lyric sheet on a song you’d like to have 
critiqued.
    
    If you want to attend & stay at the Cottage Onb the Green call ASAP. If 
you will be at the Frank Brown Festival & already have a room & would like to

sprint phone, calls made while you are in Florida will be local calls. I'll 
be working in Boston from this Friday till Monday. Then I head for Florida on 
Monday. I will be checking my e-mail in Boston & Florida or can be reached on
