Guy Davis, Robert Jones Featured at Benefit Concert, Dec. 15

Blues artists, Guy Davis and Robert Jones, will be the featured artists at 
a benefit concert that will be held on Friday evening, Dec. 15, at 8 p.m., 
at the Emerson Umbrella, 40 Stow St., in Concord, MA.

The concert will be a benefit for Lorraine and Bennett Hammond, a 
Boston-based folk duo who have worked tirelessly to promote acoustic, 
traditional, and Celtic music. Bennett recently underwent quadruple bypass 
surgery and will be unable to work for a number
of months.

Robert B. Jones is a native Detroiter with roots in Alabama and 
Mississippi. His background includes over fifteen years of experience as a 
blues performer, historian, radio-broadcaster, and educator. He is also an 
ordained Baptist minister who feels that blues has a lot to offer in terms 
of spiritual content. Jones is an extraordinary instrumentalist, playing 
guitar, slide guitar harmonica, mandolin, fiddle, quills, and banjo in a 
variety of regional styles.

Guy Davis has some Blind Willie McTell and some Fats Waller, some Buddy Guy 
and some Taj Mahal. He's got some Zora Neale Hurston, some Garrison 
Keillor, and some Laura Davis (his one-hundred-year-old grandmother). He's 
a musician, composer, actor, director, and writer. But most importantly, 
Guy Davis is a bluesman. The blues permeates every corner of Davis' 
creativity.  Davis has drawn national attention with the recent release of 
his critically acclaimed CD, "Butt Naked Free," on Red House Records.

Tickets are $30 per person, with all proceeds going to the Hammond Family.
