Claudia Russell Wows them in New England

Last Friday night Claudia Russell opened for Rosalie Sorrells at Passim
in Cambridge and then on Saturday night at the Linden Tree in Wakefield for
Bill Staines. In both cases, the halls were packed with fans of the
headliners. Usually this means waiting sometimes politely and patiently
until the star attraction appears on stage.

With Claudia Russell on stage, accompanied by her business-musical
partner and husband Bruce Kaplan, both audiences sat up and listened
attentively and with surprise. They weren't expecting to find an unfamiliar
singer-songwriter entertain them that much. Many purchased her newest CD,
"Song Food" which contains a great version of the traditional, "Don't Let
Your Deal Go Down" and a song she wrote for her mother, "Dance, (All She
Wanted to Do.)" Her rapport with audiences is instant as one could see from
drawings made by children of Claudia and Bruce at a show earlier in the week
and the loud applause at the sets' conclusions. During intermission, there
was quite a buzz over the short opening sets. At both shows last weekend,
audiences wanted more.
Claudia and Bruce are crisscrossing the east coast for the next few weeks
and can find schedules on their webpage: http://www.claudiarussell.com
