There isn't a whole lot in the Salisbury, MD area, but a new and exciting
venue is just opening up. The Chipman Cultural Center is the oldest
African-American church in the area, and it has been turned into a
performing arts center. The upstairs hall seats over two hundred, and the
coffeehouse on the first floor seats about half that. Amazing place.
The gig is run by a foundation, but Michael has a pretty free hand in
running things. While he wants to "Pay what's asked" the center is still
running in the red so be prepared to negotiate a little bit.
The center is right down the street from Salisbury State University- so with
the right pre show publicity it's not a hard sell out, in my opinion.
This a unique opportunity- it's one of the nicest halls I've seen in years,
and the closed Folk Organization is hours away. and it's only a few hours
from the Balto/DC area.
The don't have a house PA yet, but I'm dropping my old Crown DC 300 amp and
speakers- and a couple of old boards left over from my days as a wandering
banjo player. I figure if you don't support something like this it'll just
go away.
