Vocal Folkus Music is pleased to announce the seventh show in their
house concert series - great acoustic music in an intimate, smoke-free
environment. We will be presenting nationally-known artist Greg
Greenway on Saturday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. We are located in North
Raleigh.
**********************************************************************
GET READY cause here he comes! GREG GREENWAY! We are so excited to be
able share with you one of our favorite singer/songwriters. Greg is one
of the main reasons we got into this house concert madness to begin
with. Oil up your vocal chords and be prepared to be entertained by one
of the most talented and animated performers in the business.
Greg's new CD, Something Work Doing, includes In the Name of Love, a
show stopping song Greg wrote around U2's Pride after a visit he made to
the Lorraine Motel in Memphis where Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was
shot. We heard him sing that song 5 times when we were in Vancouver
last February and were brought to tears each time, not just because of
the tragic event itself, but also because of the passion and pure beauty
of the melody and lyrics. But we have come to expect that from Greg.
The Boston Globe wrote, "He made his mark on the national folk scene
with the foot-stomping passion of his shows, but also with a winning and
credible between-song intimacy.." His performances take listeners on
musical journeys full of laughter and intensity.
Reserve early - this one should sell out fast.

Please join us in welcoming Greg to our home. Reservations can be made
for this show by emailing us at "gallica@bellsouth.net," or by calling
(919) 539-1417.
Please note that our home will hold only about 50-55 friends, so reserve
a seat early if you expect to attend. Donations of $10 per person and
$5 for attentive children under 12, will be collected at the door. As
you may know, the artist gets the entire gate. Light refreshments will
be provided - please feel free to bring along your own goodies.
Directions will be sent via email a few days in advance of the show to
those with confirmed reservations.

so contact him at 919-696-1075 or <slntplanet@aol.com> for info on
upcoming shows or to get on his mailing list.
Keep your eyes open for news on shows at the Hyphen Coffeehouse in
Fuquay-Varina - Kurt usually has an entry in the Friday "What's Up"
section of the N&O, or you can check his web site
<http://home.att.net/~DAVIDTHECAT/>. If you go, save your appetite -
delicious sandwiches and delectable desserts to accompany your coffee
selection.
David Sardinha always has a number of excellent folk and country artists
scheduled at the Six String Cafe and Music Hall, McGregor Village,
Cary. In the immediate future, we might recommend David LaMotte
(January 25), Brown Mountain Light (with our boy Jeff Hart - January
30), Stephanie Corby and Kevin So (February 2), Jack Williams and
Jonathan Byrd (February 7), and The Kennedys and Josh Lamkin (February
15). Check out the calendar at
<http://www.sixstringcafe.com/index_nn4.html> for dates and times.
(Food's great here too, AND you can wash it down with a Harp's or Bass
or Red Hook or something similar.)
And if you like your music more on the twangy side, check out
<http://www.guitartown.org/calend.htm> for the Guitartown calendar -
tons of shows too numerous to mention here.
Musically yours,
