>Dave is also poised to release a wonderful compilation CD from his
>work with the Davis Elders Songwriting Project. The songs were
>written in workshops with elders in nursing homes and retirement
>centers in Davis, CA over the past few years.

I was fortunate enough to have the pleasure of Dave's company during his
stay in South Florida for the Festival. He was my house guest. One late
night after returning from one of his MANY engagements Dave asked me if I
would like to listen to a new CD he had just produced with a group of
Elders he gives a song workshop to back in California. He told me that it
was the ONLY copy of the work and kind of a prototype. Well what do YOU
think my answer was??? Do you think I cared that I had to get up early for
work the next morning??

As I sat on my couch listening watching Dave play air guitar (he plays that
as well as a real one) I just smiled. I knew that moment was one of the
few special ones I would have in my lifetime. Not only were the songs just
wonderful but watching Dave's joy and enthusiasm at this work was just,,
well,, er,, DAVE!! His eyes sparkled as he told me of the process of the
songs. Each one had a different tale. As I imagined the elders working on
the music fishing through their memories and thoughts, well as Fonzie would
say, "I got misty". The songs touched my heart.

The songs were wonderful and personal. Lives were told and memories
given. What was fantastic about some of the songs were the elders singing
as backup. That made the music all the more special.

Dave!!! You better have one with my name on it when you come back in March.

Enjoy!!
